Eladio Carrión is teaming up with a WWE legend and a Latine baseball star. Today (Jan. 19), the Puerto Rican superstar released the music video for “RKO” with appearances from Randy Orton and New York Mets catcher Francisco Álvarez.
In 2023, Carrión experienced a breakthrough year. Last March, his album 3men2 Kbrn featured his hip-hop idols like Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Future. His frequent collaborator Bad Bunny also featured on the song “Coco Chanel.” The following November, he won his first Latin Grammy Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Song thanks to that collaboration. Now Carrión is turning to sports stars for “RKO,” the lead single off his new album Sol María.
“RKO” is named after Orton’s signature finisher move from his wrestling days. Carrión channels the finisher that led Orton to many WWE championship wins into an empowering anthem of his own. In the swaggering trap banger, Carrión boasts about not letting the haters dim his light as he keeps succeeding in life.
Director Edgar Esteves turns the “RKO” song into a very cinematic music video. Carrión plays a baseball player who strikes out, which results in a loss for his team, Los Grises. Instead of wallowing in the loss, he trains hard to be better for his next time at the mound. After hitting a home run, Carrión celebrates with Venezuelan baseball player Francisco Álvarez in the locker room. Orton later appears to perform the RKO on a photographer trying to take Carrión’s picture. The epic video was shot at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
Carrión also released his new LP Sol María, named after his mom. The album features Rauw Alejandro on the song “Hey Lil Mama” and a reunion of icons Arcángel and De La Ghetto on “Tanta Droga.” Yandel, Duki, Milo J, and Nach also make apperances on the album.
