Three acts will be honored at the 2024 Premios Juventud as Agents of Change. Today (July 2), Remezcla is exclusively announcing that Los Tigres Del Norte, Anitta, and Lele Pons will be recognized for their humanitarian efforts and activism.

Last year, the recipients included Shakira and Camila Cabello. For 2024, the Mexican group Los Tigres Del Norte will be recognized as the “Legends of Song and Champions of Migrant Rights.” Not only has the band pushed Mexican culture and music into the U.S. mainstream, but the guys have also used their music and platform to be a voice for marginalized people and immigrants’ rights. They have also set up the Los Tigres Del Norte Foundation to continue their advocacy efforts.

Anitta will be recognized as a “Powerful Voice for the Environment, Social Justice, and Cultural Expression.” The Brazilian superstar has helped the sound of funk carioca from her country go global. As a bisexual woman, Anitta has also spoken up for the LGBTQ+ community through her platform and music. In her recent music video for “Aceita,” she received backlash for putting a spotlight on her country’s complicated history with the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomble.

Lastly, Pons will be recognized as a “Voice for Mental Health Awareness and a Champion Against Bullying.” The Venezuelan-American influencer and singer is known for using her platform to speak up against hate online and in real life. After being open about her experiences with Tourette syndrome, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, Pons has also encouraged people to prioritize their mental health and embrace who they are.

In a press statement, Pons said the recognition of her work humbled her. “It is important to give back to the community because it is the only thing we leave behind when we are no longer in this world. All the material things, achievements, and even our bodies disappear,” she said. “The only thing that remains is the impact we leave on others’ lives and the story we tell with our actions.”

Premios Juventud will be broadcast live from Puerto Rico on July 25 on Univision at 7 p.m. ET. The most-nominated artists this year are Peso Pluma, Carín León, and Maluma with seven nominations each. Other top nominees include Karol G, Shakira, Grupo Frontera, Becky G, and Feid.
