EXCLUSIVE: Singer Behind Viral Hit ‘Loco’ Neton Vega Announces New Album Title & Release Date

UPDATE 1/14: Neton Vega fans waiting for his debut album will unfortunately have to wait a little bit longer. The rising Mexican star’s LP De Mi Vida Mi Muerte will now be released on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. As a gift to his fans in the meanwhile, Vega recently dropped the music video for his breakthrough hit “Loco.” Last week, the reggaeton banger debuted at No. 50 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart and rose to No. 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

Peso Pluma and Tito Double P‘s frequent collaborator is breaking out with a hit of his own. Though Neton Vega is making waves in música mexicana, the rising Mexican star has gone viral with his reggaeton banger “Loco.” In an exclusive for Remezcla, Vega opened up about the success of the song and what to expect from his upcoming debut album.

“Although my roots are in corridos, I have always had a great admiration for reggaeton, its energy, and the connection it creates,” Vega says. “I wanted to experiment and show that I can tell stories with a different rhythm without losing my essence. ‘Loco’ is proof that music has no limits and that an artist can move between genres.”

Vega got his start as a songwriter on Peso Pluma’s hits like “Rubicon” and “La People” featuring Tito Double P. The 21-year-old singer from Baja California Sur started moving to the forefront last year. He has since featured on Peso Pluma’s “La Patrulla,” Tito Double P’s “Linda,” and Gabito Ballesteros’ “Presidente” with Natanael Cano and Luis R. Conríquez. 

After finding success with corridos, Vega shifted gears on Dec. 19 with the release of “Loco.” The sultry reggaeton romp has reached No. 6 on Spotify’s Mexico Top 50 chart and No. 53 on the global chart. Though there’s no music video yet, the song is at No. 17 on YouTube’s Trending Music chart. Over on TikTok, more than 36,000 videos have been created using Vega’s breakthrough hit.

Neton Vega’s debut album De Mi Vida Mi Muerte will be released on his birthday, Jan. 20. Talking about the “brotherhood” that he shares with Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, Víctor Mendívil, Luis R. Conríquez, and Óscar Maydon, Vega confirms that all those artists will appear on his upcoming album. Mexican rapper Alemán will also feature on one of his songs. 

“There are corridos, ballads, and even a couple of songs with reggaeton rhythms, like ‘Loco,'” he says. “This album talks about love, heartbreak, success, sacrifices, and, above all, how I have faced the challenges of this career.”
