What once started in the small, sweaty basements of Brooklyn bars, GHE20G0TH1K has grown to become a paragon of New York’s underground club scene. At any given event, creative minds like model Shaun Ross and designer Alexander Wang lurk under the glittering lights and glistening club kids.
Created by New York-based DJ Venus X, GHE20G0TH1K is both an experimental hub for attendees and a platform for international DJs. So it’s no surprise that GHE20G0TH1K’s next event – boasting the excellent title Putaria Maxima – will feature funkeiro MC Bin Laden’s U.S. debut. The body positive Brazilian artist has become notorious for his viral YouTube videos, like “Ta Tranquilo Ta Favorável.” Besides MC Bin Laden’s headlining performance, dembow experimentalist False Witness and Virgil Abloh, Kanye West’s creative director, are scheduled to spin on July 21 in Brooklyn.
