Shakira isn’t the only Latine artist helping the community after the deadly floods in central Texas. On July 8, Alejandro Fernández revealed that he’s donating a portion of ticket proceeds from his upcoming shows in Fort Worth, TX (Sept. 6), and El Paso, TX (Sept. 7), to help affected families.

“As an artist, I’ve always sought to bring love and hope through my music; as a father, I’m absolutely heartbroken by the news of this tragedy at Camp Mystic,” Fernández said in a press statement. “I want to dedicate my concerts in Ft. Worth and El Paso to all the families going through this horrific pain and make a donation to support them during these difficult times.” An undisclosed amount of his ticket earnings will go to the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc., a non-profit organization that’s directly aiding victims by providing emergency shelters and food assistance.

The Guadalupe River tragedy started on July 4 when central Texas started to flood due to excessive rainfall. The rainwater reached homes and campgrounds such as Camp Mystic, which Fernández mentioned in his statement. According to NPR, the Christian all-girl summer camp lost at least 27 campers and counselors. At press time, the death toll has reached 109 people in the Kerr County area. Also, more than 161 people are still missing in the same affected area. President Trump is expected to visit the state on Friday (July 11).

Fernández’s Texan dates are part of his ongoing “De Rey a Rey Tour,” which is a tribute to his late father and Mexican icon Vicente Fernández. After Texas, the tour will make stops in Phoenix, AZ (Sept. 12); Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 13 and 15), Sacramento, CA (Sept. 19); Los Angeles, CA (Sept. 20); and San Diego, CA (Sept. 21).
