One of Latin America’s rock icons will have their story told through a Netflix bio series. Today (Mar. 15), Argentine singer Fito Paez announced the release date for his upcoming series El Amor Después Del Amor.
Paez has a music career spanning over 30 years, being one of the pioneering artists in Latin America’s rock scene. In 1992, he succeeded globally with his breakthrough album El Amor Después Del Amor. The LP became the best-selling Latine rock album in Argentina’s history. Paez has one Grammy Award and 11 Latin Grammy Awards. In 2021, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Latin Recording Academy.
Now Paez’s life story will hit TV screens with the El Amor Después Del Amor series. Gaspar Offenhenden will play young Paez while Iván Hochman will be taking on the role of the singer in his adult years. Many other Latin American rock icons will be portrayed in the show, including Charly García, Fabiana Cantilo, Luis Alberto Spinetta, and Juan Carlos Baglietto.
A trailer for El Amor Después Del Amor was also released. Hochman as Paez stares into the mirror before a concert. As he stands up, his life flashes right before his eyes. The ups and downs of Paez’s career, including the passing of his mother, are shown while the song “El Amor Después Del Amor” plays. He then opens his eyes to a massive crowd roaring for more music.
El Amor Después Del Amor will start streaming on Netflix on Apr. 26. Last year, Paez released his most recent album, The Golden Light. It closed out a trilogy of LPs, which included Los Años Salvajes and Futurología Arlt. He also released the song “Gente En La Calle” with Argentine pop star Lali, who stars in the Netflix series Sky Rojo.
