It’s Grammys week! On Feb. 2, it was unveiled that Dahian El Apechao—the Dominican merengue composer who worked on “Después De La Playa”—will perform alongside Bad Bunny during his performance at the ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 5. Yes, the two artists are reportedly bringing a merengue party to this year’s Grammy awards!
“I feel very happy because, thanks to God and Bad Bunny, we are going to represent the Dominican Republic through our native rhythm, merengue, in the most important award of the American music industry,” Dahian reportedly said about the upcoming performance.
According to Listin Diario, the exciting news came from the Dominican artist’s management, Andújar Music Group. The artist management’s president, Máximo Andújar, expressed: “This is one more step towards the consolidation of Dahian’s career, so we are very grateful for this invitation from Bad Bunny, to whom we wish all the success he deserves in the categories where he is nominated.”
Dahian’s upcoming Grammy presentation with Bad Bunny isn’t the first time they’ll be performing together. The Dominican artist was part of the Latin American leg of Benito’s World’s Hottest Tour. According to the same source, Dahian has also worked with other A-list artists like Arcángel, Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel, and Enrique Iglesias, to name a few.
On the other hand, Bad Bunny’s highly-anticipated performance is only half the reason why he’s attending the Grammys this year. He’s also up for three awards: Album of the Year; Best Pop Solo Performance for “Moscow Mule;” and Best Musica Urbana Album. Consequently, his album Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first Spanish-language album to be nominated for Album of the Year. He’s nominated alongside other heavy-hitters, including Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Adele’s 30, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, and Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
The Grammy Awards will be aired live on CBS on Feb. 5 from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
