Bad Bunny has made his first public appearance last night (Feb. 2) since the phone-tossing incident. The Puerto Rican superstar gave a speech at the Billboard Power 100 event—and he did it in English.

Bad Bunny kicked off 2023 on a sour note when he was filmed tossing a fan’s phone. After a fan got into Bad Bunny’s personal space to take selfies in the Dominican Republic, he grabbed their phone and threw it yards away. In a now-deleted statement, he said that he considered the fan’s actions “a lack of respect and I will treat it likewise.” Since then, Bad Bunny set his Instagram account private and said a cryptic farewell on Twitter.

Benito has appeared in public a few times since then, but last night, he was a surprise guest at the Billboard Power 100 event. He gave a speech for the first time in English. Bad Bunny’s manager Noah Assad was honored with an award at the event, and he presented him with it.

“I know my man don’t like this kind of things, this attention,” Bad Bunny said in English. “He doesn’t like speech and corny sh*t. Me neither, so I will try to be fast. Tonight is a special night not because my friend Noah is winning this award. It’s more because I’m making my first English speech ever.”

Toward the end of the speech, Bad Bunny said he would give the rest of it in Spanish. Assad is the founder of Bad Bunny’s indie label Rimas Entertainment.

Last month, Bad Bunny was spotted at Harry Styles’ last Love On Tour concert in L.A. He was seen dancing to Styles’ hit song “Golden” with his face covered-up. One of Bad Bunny’s scenes in the upcoming movie Cassandro also went viral. In photos from the leaked scene, he can be seen kissing Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal.
