Fuerza Regida could be working with Karol G next. In a new interview today (June 13), the Mexican-American group’s lead singer, known as JOP, revealed that they have a song ready for the Colombian superstar.
Karol G is no stranger to regional Mexican music. On her 2021 album KG0516, she co-wrote the song “200 Copas” with corridos tumbados architect Danny Felix. Earlier this year, she dabbled in banda music influences in “Gucci Los Paños” from her Mañana Será Bonito LP. Now there’s a chance she will work with Fuerza Regida next. While on Apple Music’s The Chart Show with Brooke Reese, JOP, real name Jesús Ortiz Paz, talked about wanting to work with Karol G.
“I have a song for Karol G, and hopefully, it happens,” he said. “Of course, it’s like a corrido slash song, and it’s all about the woman. So it’s all about girls, so they could feel powerful. I wanted to sing that with Karol G because she’s a really powerful woman, and we wanted to take that collab out with her.”
JOP mentioned that he hadn’t sent the song to Karol G or her team yet but plans to. So far, Karol G’s manager has been in contact with the manager of Fuerza Regida. That’s a promising start to this potential collaboration in the works.
Fuerza Regida is currently flying high on the charts with their latest single, “TQM.” The corrido love song climbed to No. 34 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. The track has also amassed over 76 million streams on Spotify since dropping three weeks ago.
Next month, Fuerza Regida will embark on the Otra Peda Tour in the U.S. On July 15, the guys will be performing at a concert at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, CA, as part of the tour.
