Rauw Alejandro made a splash at the Latin Grammy Awards last year with his surprise performance of “Se Fue.” On Dec. 31, the Puerto Rican superstar revealed that he will soon drop his version of the song with the original artist, Italian singer Laura Pausini.

In July of last year, Rauw Alejandro and Rosalía revealed that they had ended their engagement and broken up. Both artists appeared to sing about the heartbreak in front of each other at the Latin Grammy Awards later in November. Rosalía opened the show with a heartfelt cover of “Se Nos Rompió El Amor” by Rocío Jurado. Rauw later paid tribute to the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year, Pausini, with a beautiful cover of her song “Se Fue.” Remezcla singled out both performances as highlights of the night

In an interview with Chente Ydrach, Rauw Alejandro revealed that he created the musical arrangement of his version of “Se Fue” with his longtime producer Mr. NaisGai. Before singing Pausini’s 1994 hit at the Latin Grammy Awards, he shared he planned to cover the song for his next album. Rauw’s cover of the song will be coming soon featuring Pausini herself.

“She loved [my performance of] it,” Rauw Alejandro said. “The song is recorded with Laura Pausini. Expect it soon. I recorded it because there was a lot of support for [my performance] and people kept asking for it.”

During the interview, Rauw also opened up about his breakup with Rosalía. He talked about how the Spanish singer came to his defense with a statement following untrue rumors that he was unfaithful. “Our relationship was very positive,” he said. “There was nothing toxic about it. It was beautiful. We have respect and admiration for each other.”

Last month, Rauw Alejandro split from longtime manager Eric Duars. During the interview, he said that the two simply went their own ways and it was nothing personal. He is currently without a manager but continues to work with his Los Sensei team.
