This year’s Premios Juventud awards will honor late Tex-Mex queen Selena. The superstars of today that she has inspired–Karol G, Natti Natasha, Ally Brooke, Danna Paola, and Greeicy–will be part of a special tribute.

As part of the 25th anniversary of Selena’s death, which occurred in March 1995, Premios Juventud will be joining the many tributes that have happened for her this year. In the line-up that will salute her at the awards, Karol G, Natti Natasha, and Ally Brooke have previously honored the icon.

Colombian reggaetonera Karol G has a picture of Selena tattooed on her arm. Since touring the world for her debut album, 2018’s Unstoppable, she has slipped Selena’s music into her set. Last October, Karol G sang “Como La Flor” and “Si Una Vez” at the D.F. stop of her Ocean album tour.

As we pointed out in our best Selena deep cuts list, Dominican reggaetonera Natti Natasha paid tribute to the singer in 2012. Natasha was invited by Selena’s family to re-record her hits for the Enamorada De Ti album where she was part of “Fotos y Recuerdos” remix with Puerto Rican rapper Don Omar.

Ally Brooke, a former member of Fifth Harmony, is from Texas like Selena; she has paid tribute to Selena numerous times before. In June 2019, the Mexican-American singer performed a “Baila Esta Cumbia” and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” medley as part of her solo set at L.A.’s Wango Tango music festival.

Aside from the Selena tribute, Mexican singer Danna Paola is also scheduled to perform her duet “No Bailes Sola” with Premios Juventud host Sebastián Yatra. The awards will air live on Univision on Thursday, Aug. 13.
