Colombian cumbia group La Sonora Dinamita is back with their new album Transformando La Cumbia. On the heels of the release, the group debuts a remake of the classic “A Mover La Colita,” featuring Victoria La Mala.

“A Mover La Colita” is a part of Transformando La Cumbia, an album where La Sonora Dinamita revisits cumbia classics with today’s Latin music superstars. The line-up includes artists like Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte, regional Mexican music artist Ana Bárbara, and all-women mariachi group Flor de Toloache. Mexican singer Victoria La Mala joins the band for “Colita.”

“We’ve all heard this song in every family party, wedding, and quinceañera,” Victoria La Mala tells Remezcla. “It was literally one of those songs everyone knows and sings along desde tus abuelitos to the young members of the family. To now be able to sing it alongside La Sonora Dinamita on the record is so surreal! Shooting the video in Monterrey was so fun and they were so nice and kind.”

In the music video for “A Mover La Colita,” Victoria looks fly and fabulous in her feathery outfit. The band members of La Sonora Dinamita look snazzy too in their shining suits and sparkling dresses. Victoria is having a blast as she moves her colita alongside the legendary band. (They also got the moves.)

“A Mover La Colita” is the latest chapter for Victoria La Mala in keeping regional Mexican music fresh and interesting. She’s given the age-old genre an image overhaul.

“My tias growing up in the ’90s were all into hip-hop, R&B, and soul music and I loved that music so much because I looked up to them and thought that was cool,” she says. “When I started my career, I told people I wanted to mix both styles and influences and people told me that could never happen. I kept on doing my thing and representing who I am and I believe it helped me in the long run as an artist.”
