NEZZA is having an eventful year! After standing up for what she believes in at the Dodgers Stadium, the Colombian-Dominican singer was part of Shakira’s she-wolf walk at the second night of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour in Los Angeles, CA (August 5). The event took place at the SoFi Stadium.

In case you don’t know, Shakira’s iconic Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour starts with an iconic walk to the stage alongside chosen influential people. During the first night in LA (August 4), Shakira invited Mexican-Honduran actress Francia Raisa to walk with her, among others. On other nights, she has invited influencers like Fernanda Cortes and Sofia Bella to join the powerful walk. However, last night, she chose the empowering singer NEZZA to walk beside her as the wolf pack made their way to kick off the epic show.

NEZZA is being recognized this summer for standing up for what she believes in. In June, the rising singer made headlines after singing the Spanish-language version of the national anthem at a Dodgers game when the organization told her to sing it in English. She went viral after explaining why she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Spanish, pointing out that it was commissioned in 1945 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Good Neighbor Policy to help “foster a better relationship with Latin America.” At a time when LA was going through ICE raids, the singer said she “felt like [she] needed to [sing the Spanish version]” for her people – but the organization didn’t support the switch-up.

After the situation, NEZZA went viral. She even went on the popular talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she talked to Diego Luna about her choice to sing the national anthem in Spanish. Since then, she has released a music video for her newest single, “Classy,” as well as a cover of the national anthem.

Up next, NEZZA will perform at her upcoming NEZZA & Friends fundraiser show, where proceeds will go to non-profit foundations supporting immigration rights and defense.
