After announcing his tribute tour dedicated to his late father, Alejandro Fernández released new music. On Oct. 24, the emblematic Mexican singer released a cover of Vicente Fernández’s mariachi hit “No Me Sé Rajar,” produced by Eden Muñoz.
“This tribute, besides being about Mexico, is for my father, Don Vicente Fernández, the great Mexican charro who proudly carried the sounds of our land in his heart,” Alejandro said in a press statement. “My father taught me many of our traditions, like wearing a charro suit and riding horses, but above all, he showed me how to sing Mexican music from the heart, to offer love to the audience and the stage.”
The new rendition features a modern pop tinge to the música mexicana classic originally released in 1978. In contrast to Vicente’s version, the new rendition is sped up and features a more detailed musical arrangement with additional rhythmic brass instruments, unlike the original’s string-forward mariachi arrangement.
Social media users are praising the star’s new version. A YouTube user, @joaquinchavezhernandex1385, wrote: “Excellent to continue with don Chente’s legacy.” Another YouTuber user, @wilmarianare5273, commented: “I love it, it has your touch, it’s beautiful, congratulations.”

On the other hand, some social media users prefer the OG mariachi version. A YouTube user, @hoytengoganasdetimty.n.l5022, said: “PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR YOU SING THE GREAT SONGS OF DON VICENTE BUT AS THEY ARE. WITH PURE MARIACHI AND YOUR GREAT VOICE. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING ON THEM.” Another YouTube user, @jesusdelgado8003, echoed the same sentiment: “This should have been only with mariachi.”
Up next, Alejandro is set to perform at the Monumental Plaza de Toros México in Mexico City tonight (Oct. 25) and tomorrow (Oct. 26). In 2025, he will kick off his highly-anticipated “De Rey a Rey Tour” in Seattle, WA, on May 10, 2025.
