Becky G is dabbing in bachata music for the first time. Today (Sept. 16), the Mexican-American singer released her new single “Amantes” featuring Dáviles de Novelda.
“Amantes” marks Becky G’s first new single since the release of her album Esquemas. The LP featured her global hit “MAMIII” with Karol G, which peaked at No. 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Becky G also recently scored her first solo No. 1 single with “Bailé Con Mi Ex” on the Latin Pop Airplay chart.
Now Becky G is moving on with “Amantes.” It notably marks her first time exploring the bachata genre. However, it’s not her first time working with a Dominican genre. Last year, she scored a hit with El Alfa in the dembow-infused banger “Fulanito.”
Becky G slows things down with Spanish rapper Dáviles de Novelda in “Amantes.” The bachata rhythm is underscored by trap music beats with a flamenco twist. She trades verses with Dáviles de Novelda about finding love on the dance floor. Dáviles de Novelda’s deep voice perfectly rounds out Becky G’s alluring performance. She’s all about breaking down esquemas and creating new sounds. This captivating collaboration is Becky G continuing to make Latine music in her own way.
Becky G is having a breakout year. Last month, she was nominated for Best Latin for “MAMIII” at the MTV Video Music Awards. Becky G is up for 11 nominations at the Billboard Latin Music Awards that are airing Sept. 29 on Telemundo. She also appeared during J-Hope’s headlining set at Lollapalooza to perform their hit single “Chicken Noodle Soup.”
Becky G recently appeared as a cover star of Variety’s Young Hollywood Issue. This week, she added Teen Vogue cover star to her resume for the Sep. issue. We love to see Becky G getting the flowers she deserves.
