LISTEN: Belinda & Snow Tha Product Cover Molotov’s ‘Frijolero’

Following Belinda’s viral jukebox musical Mentiras, La Series, the pop star is back with a new collaboration. On Aug. 8, the Spanish-Mexican artist teamed up with Snow Tha Product for a new rendition of “Frijolero,” as part of Molotov’s upcoming tribute album SOMOS FRIJOLEROS.
“The wait is over! 🎇 ‘Frijolero’ by @belindapop and @snowthaproduct is now available,” Beli’s record label announced online.
Produced by Marcelo Rivera Levy and Toy Selectah, the new cover aligns with Molotov’s 30th anniversary. To commemorate the band’s three decades of musical trajectory, the iconic Mexican rock band is releasing a tribute album featuring special musical guests. The first taste of the album is Beli and Snow’s take on “Frijolero,” which features the popstar’s sultry, breathy voice with the song’s signature exaggerated American-speaking-Spanish accent as opposed to Molotov’s Paco Ayala’s deep vocals. As for the rap segment, the Mexican-American rappera’s fiery vocals shine, matching – and possibly surpassing – the energy of Molotov’s Randy Ebright’s original verses. Together, the duo sings the now-classic song released in 2003 about racism, which remains relevant today.
Social media users are praising the song’s new version. A YouTube user, @ConsueloPrado-u2c, wrote: “Wow SnowThaProduct and Belinda did amazing in this cover crazy how this song is still relatable after so many years.” Another YouTuber user, @Stephanis28, commented: “Snow tha Product is always representing 👑❄️ This came out so good and you honored the original💜.”
Though we don’t know the other artists participating in Molotov’s tribute album, the legendary rock and rap band revealed the album’s cover, hinting at 11 surprise guests. The post’s caption read: “30 years of history, 30 years of success… todxs Somos Frijoleros 🔥 The best of @molotovbanda with today’s sound, coming soon.”
Besides this new release, Belinda is still promoting her recent album INDÓMITA. She recently released her new music video for “Mírame Feliz” with Xavi. On the other hand. Snow Tha Product’s newest songs include “Alligator” and “No Traigo Nada.”
