Karol G is officially a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Today (June 1), the Colombian superstar released her new song “WATATI” featuring Aldo Ranks off the Barbie movie soundtrack.

Last week, the tracklist for Barbie The Album was unveiled. Karol G and Ice Spice are two Latinas who will contribute music to the movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Ice Spice will team up with Nicki Minaj again for “Barbie World” with Aqua, a reimagination of the original song. For “WATATI,” Karol G joins forces with Panamanian legend Aldo Ranks. He was part of the reggae en español movement that helped shape the sound of what would later become reggaeton.

“For a long time, I wanted to make music that would remind me of the great Panamanian songs that I danced to and enjoyed years ago that are still part of my playlist,” Karol G previously wrote in her Instagram stories. “It’s an honor… Obviously, we will have Barbie perreando.”

Karol G comes through with a dembow-driven anthem that will definitely have Barbie and Ken perreando. The production of “Watati” by her longtime collaborator Ovy on the Drums recalls the classic reggae en español beats from Panama. Karol G sings about getting down on the dance floor with her lover. In addition to hyping her up throughout the song, Ranks also drops an explosive guest verse that turns up the heat. He brings that authentic Panamanian flow to Karol G’s freaky club banger.

The Barbie movie and Barbie The Album will be released on July 21. Last week, the soundtrack was previewed by Dua Lipa’s song “Dance The Night.” Mark Ronson serves as the executive producer of the project.

Moreover, Karol G recently added more dates to her Mañana Será Bonito Tour. She will perform her hits in stadiums across the U.S. this summer.
