Last night, fans got an early Christmas present when Mon Laferte appeared on TV singing “Feliz Navidad” along with Gwen Stefani on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Before the performance, Stefani talked about the collaboration with host Kimmel, which appears on her holiday album You Make It Feel Christmas, released last October. According to the No Doubt frontwoman, she approached her label about finding someone to sing the song with her, after which they suggested the Chilean pop star. Stefani was impressed by her and felt a familiarity when she saw her image, as it reminded her of the Orange County Latina girls she grew up with. Mon said, “I feel very grateful to Gwen for her generosity, inviting me to sing with her in Spanish on these global stages that are so important.”

Among the praise Laferte got after the performance aired was an Instagram comment by Ana Torroja, as screen-captured by Chile’s Tele13 Radio. In turn, Mon asked the former Mecano singer when they would record a duet of their own.

This is the second time the two singers performed the José Feliciano classic on TV this week. Both appeared on The Voice on Tuesday, December 4, delivering another rendition of the tune. For the Kimmel performance, they were backed by a band and a few dancers while both traded verses and came together for the chorus.

Laferte’s latest album, Norma, dropped November 9, so it’s probably safe to say that we’ll see more media appearances from her soon.
