News: Vive Latino Set Times Announced (And A Contest Too)!

Vive Latino’s huge quinceañera bash is almost upon us. Yes, we’re beyond excited. Yes, we’re counting down the days. And, as of today, YES, we have finally put our Excel skills to good use by planning out our schedules now that the official set times are up!

The fun begins on Thursday, March 27th, with our friends La Santa Cecilia playing the opening role to the great party. Nine Inch Nails and Diplo will close out the night, which will also feature AFI, Los Bunkers, and Hello Seahorse!

Friday night starts with a ton of unknown/independent/young artists such as Coctel Intergaláctico, Machingon, Como Asesinar A Felipes, etc. and ends with a ridiculously huge bang thanks to Frikstailers, Arcade Fire, RVSB, and Rusko. We’re going to have to do something special for Saturday because there are just TOO MANY great artists we love that day. I Can Chase Dragons!, Outernational, Chancha Via Circuito, Ceci Bastida, Calle 13, Quantic, Torreblanca, and so many more. It’s also the night a trio of classic artists will take the stage: El Gran Silencio, La Maldita Vecindad y Los Hijos Del Quinto Patio, and Los Tigres Del Norte. SWEET QUETZALCOATL ALMIGHTY!!!

If we somehow manage to have enough energy for Sunday, we’ll be there to enjoy a few metric tons of music from artists we never heard of but probably should have (I want to see The Sexican, Consulado Popular, and Kakkmaddafakka based on their names alone) as well as artists we have no problem seeing a million times over (I’m looking at you ChocQuibTown, La Vida Boheme, Onda Vaga, and Radaid).

The night is also pretty ridiculously epic thanks to back-to-back-to-back performances by La Ley, Julieta Venegas, Zoé, Enanitos Verdes, and closing act 2 Many DJs. Why can’t it be March already?!

For those of you who happen to be 21+, living in the U.S. and looking for a good time in Mexico City without spending much feria, Indio beer is holding a contest with grand prize tickets to Vive Latino.

To enter the “Vive Indio, Vive Latino” contest, consumers 21+ in the U.S. must share a 15-second video on Instagram tagged with #Mis15Segundos showcasing a talent, musical or otherwise, that allows them to “Do Their Thing.”

Gil Cerezo of Kinky will decide who will win the two sets of tickets/airfare to the festival. Hurry though, because you only have until 11:59 p.m. ET this Friday to enter. Here’s all the legal etc. for all you masochists out there.
