The buzz of the week is Shakira’s viral “BZRP Music Sessions #53,” released on Jan. 11. From hilarious memes to stars chiming in to show their support, it’s been an entertaining week for us on the sidelines. The latest supporter? None other than the ultimate male disser: Paquita la del Barrio.
In a recent Instagram post, Paquita captioned a photo of herself singing with the words: “A hug for @shakira.”
Over on Twitter, she also responded to messages regarding the new diss track. “That’s right; a hug,” Paquita said in agreement to the Mexican pop star Danna Paola’s Twitter post that read: “People always have a lot to say… in the end, music is the best tool to heal and express whatever you want…,” regarding the song’s release.
Then, when an entertainment editor asked the “Rata de Dos Patas” singer if she is team Shakira, she replied: “We are @shakira team.”
Furthermore, she retweeted other messages that compared the Colombian artist’s epic session with her own songs. She retweeted a post with the two star’s photos with the caption “same energy,” as well as Twitter users who asked for a collab between the two.
Clearly, it appears that if there’s someone who will have your back on hating men it’s the Mexican icon Paquita. She even retweeted a Twitter user who wrote: “In the end all men are rats but they are our complement. But don’t come out unfaithful, cabrones.”
This isn’t the first time Paquita’s in-the-know and vocal about pop culture moments that, in one way or another, call her attention. Last year, when Becky G and Karol G dropped their female empowerment slash diss anthem “MAMIII,” Paquita quickly responded to the track’s “Rata de Dos Patas” homage. She said: “Thank you for paying this tribute to me, and what better way than singing to those useless toxic two-legged rats.”
As far as the talked-about session goes, it currently sits at No. 1 on YouTube’s trending music section and has already garnered over 69 million views on the streaming platform.
