Red Bull Music Academy Festival is hitting New York once again this year, with a month-long celebration of underground music and culture movements turning heads online and onstage. Along with a lecture from Werner Herzog about music and film, 10-hour ambient immersions, and a performance art piece based on Solange’s A Seat at the Table, for fans of Latin American diasporic sounds, there’s plenty to get excited about. Here’s a breakdown of the Remezcla-approved events:

April 29: Fluxo: Funk Proibidão
Brazilian baile funk juggernaut MC Bin Laden is set to make his U.S. debut at this celebration of the bass music movement. MC Carol, DJ Assault, Sicko Mobb, Venus X & Asmara (Putaria Maxima), Leo Justi, and Tom DJ are also set to perform.

May 7: A Bed-Stuy Function
Brooklyn’s dance music crews will take over Sugar Hill Disco in Bed-Stuy with performances from Juliana Huxtable, Tygapaw, Bearcat, Papi Juice, FXWRK, and Stud1nt.

May 19: Elza Soares
Following the critical success of her album A Mulher do Fim do Mundo, Afro-Brazilian troubadour Elza Soares takes Town Hall to perform her pioneering samba hits.
