Bobby Pulido is ready for his next era. On Nov. 21, the Tejano star revealed he will be retiring from music in 2025 and focus on his next conquest: running for public office in 2026.

The famous Tex-Mex star, known for his megahit “Desvelado,” as well as others like “Se Murió De Amor” and “Ojalá Y Te Animes,” announced he’s officially wrapping up his musical career. Through social media, the singer revealed his upcoming plans. In a press conference, Pulido started off by talking about his educational background and his decision to switch over to pursue his music career after getting an offer he couldn’t refuse and after the loss of Tex-Mex icon Selena Quintanilla.

He then said he will be celebrating 30 years in the music business next year. “To be quite honest, I’m enjoying the most success I’ve ever had. But like the saying goes: All good things must come to an end,” Pulido noted. “Today, I’m announcing my farewell tour for next year. It’s not a decision I have hastily made. I’ve given it a lot of thought. I feel like my life has come full circle.”

He continued by saying that growing up, he was intrigued by the “idea of public service.” He shared he was a Texas Boy Stater in high school and later studied political science. He then revealed that in 2026, he will be running for public office to fulfill his “life-long dream to serve his people.” However, he didn’t unveil any further details.

“People are [exhausted] from a grueling political season. In due time, everyone will know what I stand for and what capacity I’d like to serve, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that have supported me all of these years,” he said. He continued to give the same speech in Spanish.

In 1995, the singer released Desvelado, which included the massive hit that would help cement him as a Tejano star for the rest of his musical career. Besides music, he also acted in films like La Decada Furiosa (2003) and telenovelas like Fuego en La Sangre (2008). Although he reached his popularity peak with his first album, the iconic song “Desvelado” would continue to be a hit in the coming years.

Up next, Pulido is scheduled to perform at next year’s Bésame Mucho festival in Austin, TX, which will take place on Apr. 5. He is also expected to drop dates for his farewell tour in 2025.
