The Internet Thinks These Rosalía Songs Off ‘LUX’ Are About Rauw Alejandro

Rosalía’s fourth album LUX is finally out. The LP includes themes of marriage, spirituality, heartbreaks, and what many social media users are speculating—her past relationship with ex-fiancée Rauw Alejandro.
The complex album includes diverse genres like flamenco, orchestra, and pop elements. It also features the vocalist singing in 14 different languages, making it her most universal album yet (as far as languages go). But throughout LUX, she also features lyrics that have eagle-eyed Internet users speculating whether a few songs reference her former lover, Rauw Alejandro, with whom she was previously engaged in 2023.
Many listeners are pinpointing the Yahritza y Su Esencia-assisted “La Perla” to be about Rauw. With lyrics like “La decepción local, rompecorazones nacional / Un terrorista emocional, el mayor desastre mundial,” people are comically comparing the song to Paquita La Del Barrio’s iconic male diss “Rata De Dos Patas.” Verses like “Red flag andante, tremendo desastre / Dirá que no fue él, que fue su doppelgänger,” and, “La lealtad y la fidelidad / Es un idioma que nunca entenderá,” hint at a possible infidelity. On the other hand, lyrics like “Su masterpiece, su colección de bras” could be a reference to Rauw’s previous concerts, where he would collect bras from fans. Furthermore, in Rosi and Rauw’s track “PROMESA,” she referred to him and their love as a “perla.” Is it a coincidence?
Other songs like “Reliquia” have subtle verses that could be interpreted in many ways. Lyrics like “En PR nació еl coraje” have fans thinking it could be an indirect jab at Rauw’s island. Also verses like “En Japón lloré y mis pestañas deshilé” remind social media users of the ex-lovers’ past trips to Japan, where they spent the holidays together in Tokyo in 2022.
Though it’s not yet officially released on streaming platforms, the album’s “Focu ‘ranni” seemingly mentions the Spanish singer’s ex-fiancée when she sings: “Grabé tu nombre en mis costillas / Pero mi corazón nunca tuvo tus iniciales / Tarde o temprano el destino te golpea / Aunque ignores sus señales.” As many people may remember, La Rosalía has “RAUL” tattooed on her. She also sings about the wedding that never happened: “Ya nadie tirará arroz al cielo / Ya no habrá borrachera ni flores / Ya no habrá nadie que bendiga / Un amor que en verdad desconoce.” However, Rosalía claims the song was inspired by Santa Rosalía de Palermo, who called off a wedding and dedicated her life to God.
Whether or not Rosalía is referring to Rauw in these lyrics, it’s only natural that she would include her personal feelings on LUX. Let’s remember that Rauw also talked about their past relationship when he dropped “Hayami Hana By Raúl” after their breakup.
