After reigning as the biggest Spanish-language song of 2025 so far, Bad Bunny’s “DtMF” has been overthrown. Now, the most-streamed Latine song in the world is “La Plena – W Sound 05” by Ovy on the Drums, Westcol, and rising Colombian singer Beéle.

Bad Bunny started the year with a bang with the success of his song “DtMF” and his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. The nostalgic song also received a boost thanks to a TikTok trend that made the Puerto Rican superstar emotional. His fans were looking back on photos of their late loved ones with “DtMF” as a soundtrack. Now, a new TikTok trend has pushed “La Plena – W Sound 05” past Bad Bunny’s hit on Spotify. The Afrobeats-infused song by Ovy on the Drums, Westcol, and Beéle currently sits at No. 8 on Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart, making it the most popular Latine track in the world.

W Sound is a collective that includes Karol G’s long-time producer Ovy on the Drums, Colombian streamer Westcol, and Kristoman. As a group, “La Plena” marks their fifth collaboration together. After being released in February, Beéle, who is featured on the song, uploaded a video of himself dancing to it on TikTok. His moves have since inspired a popular “La Plena” dance challenge. Since then, over 602,000 videos have been created on TikTok of people partaking in the challenge.

The success of “La Plena” also points to the Afrobeats genre becoming the new frontier in mainstream Latine music. According to Spotify, Afrobeats emerged as one of the up-and-coming Latine sub-genres on the platform. Spotify’s head of U.S. Latin Editorial Antonio Vazquez told us last year that artists like Colombian artist Kapo, Honduran artist Key-Key, and Colombian artist Hamilton were on the brink of putting Latine Afrobeats into the mainstream’s eye.
