Bad Bunny and J Balvin have officially reunited! On Dec. 21, the two superstars shared the stage once again during the Puerto Rican icon’s last sold-out stop in Mexico City. The duo performed several of their hits and shared heartfelt speeches at the Estadio GNP Seguros last night, ending any feud they had in the past.
There’s no doubt that J Balvin helped Bad Bunny gain ground in the mainstream. At the beginning of Bad Bunny’s career, the two artists would hop on remixes and songs that helped their stardom soar, leading to the popular collaboration “I Like It” with Cardi B. Their success also led them to drop their iconic joint album Oasis (2019), which many fans thought they’d tour before the pandemic hit in 2020. However, the two artists seemed to have a fallout. And although we may never know the details, it was noticeable that the two artists weren’t as close anymore, since J Balvin was never part of Bad Bunny’s tours or any further collaborations since Oasis. Benito even seemingly dissed J Balvin on the Eladio Carrión-assisted “THUNDER Y LIGHTNING” in 2023.
In response to the presumed jab, Balvin kept it cool and said he was surprised by the song, but that Bad Bunny was a “great artist” and “good guy.” Fast forward to last week, the subject was touched on once again when an interviewer asked J Balvin about Bad Bunny. Balvin said that now he can be happy and celebrate Bad Bunny being No. 1, as opposed to how his ego felt five years ago. He also told the host that he would like to share the stage with Benito in time. Turns out, that time was last night (Dec. 21).
Bad Bunny closed his eighth and last sold-out show in Mexico City with an epic reunion. After singing “Soy El Diablo” with Natanael Cano, Bad Bunny had another surprise up his sleeve. Fans were surprised to see J Balvin join the Boricua icon for songs like “La Canción,” “QUE PRETENDES,” and “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola.” The two artists haven’t shared the stage in more than four years. After singing these songs, the two shared an emotional moment on stage.
J Balvin told Bad Bunny he was proud of him for what he represents and what he is doing in music. The Colombian star said: “It is an honor for me to share this with you and also to thank you because you have taught me so much, from a distance, even though we didn’t talk. You inspired me greatly, and today I want to tell you that I admire you.” He continued to say he loves him and his family. The past is the past,” he added, noting that they both have matured, and even apologized for anything “stupid” he has done in the past.
The two artists hugged it out before Bad Bunny responded. Benito said: “Thank you for those words. You know the feeling is mutual, I respect you a lot, I love you a lot, and likewise, if at any point falte en algo, I already apologized a long time ago.” He also revealed that the dynamic duo talked weeks ago about a reunion, but that they were waiting for the “perfect moment” to share the stage. After the public apologies, they continued to sing “I Like It,” concluding their epic reunion.
Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS Tour will continue next year in Santiago, Chile (Jan. 9).
