Dua Lipa is showing off her Spanish speaking skills. On May 11, the English-Albanian pop star covered Enrique Iglesias’ classic hit “Héroe” in Spanish during her first of two Radical Optimism Tour shows at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, Spain.
“MADRID NIGHT 1!!!! NOS VEMOS OTRA VEZ ESTA NOCHE ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” the global star wrote online after the concert.
Before covering the Spanish singer’s iconic track, Dua Lipa talked to her fans in Spanish. She said: “Estoy muy agradecida de estar aquí. En la proxima canción que yo quiero cantar para ustedes, es un poco diferente porque cada noche quería cantar una canción de un artista local [I am very grateful to be here. The next song I want to sing for you it’s a little different because every night I wanted to sing a song from a local artist].” She continued to say she was excited and nervous, but that she wanted to try to sing in Spanish for her fans. She then invited her fans to sing along if they knew it.
Iglesias’ “Héroe” was originally released back in 2001 with an English version of the same track. To date, it is one of Madrid-born singer’s most popular hits. The surprise cover was part of Dua Lipa’s setlist that included her pop earworms like “Levitating,” “Don’t Start Now,” and “Houdini.”
Fans are excited about the song’s inclusion. An X user wrote: “I love that Dua Lipa covered Enrique Iglesias’ Héroe 🥹.”
The singer’s next stops include France, Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Italy. She will also perform in Belgium, England, the UK, and Ireland. She will close 2025 with performances in the Americas. The Latin American dates include stops in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico.
