Eladio Carrión is revisiting one of his recent hits in a surprising way. The Puerto Rican rapper teamed up with hip-hop superstar Future for a remix of “Mbappe,” released last night (March 9).
“Mbappe” is one of the songs on Carrión’s last album Sen2 Kbrn Vol. 2. Since the release of the LP in Nov., “Mbappe” has amassed over 55 million streams on Spotify. In the swaggering track, Carrión compares himself to French soccer player Kylian Mbappé. He’s now taking the song to the next level with Grammy-nominated rapper Future. Carrión was spotted filming a music video with Future in Jan.
Carrión masterfully blends the worlds of trap music in Spanish and English in the “Mbappe” remix. Future tears into the track at the halfway point with his wealth of bragging rights. “Hundreds of thousands or more, I’m spendin’ galore / Coppin’ new diamonds for sure,” he spits. Future finds his footing alongside Carrión and they come through with a knockout collaboration.
The music video for the “Mbappe” remix opens with a voicemail. Carrión receives the call that his dream of teaming up with Future is becoming a reality. He lives the high life alongside Future, and we see them partying hard in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Carrión’s fans were excited to see him team up with one of the biggest U.S. rappers. “The moment you have a song with Future, you have been crowned, Don Eladio Carrión,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Eladio Carrion’s song came out with Future and everything is happiness,” another fan added.
Next up, Carrión will perform at the Coachella music festival in April. He is one of the few Latine acts on the line-up, which includes Becky G, Kali Uchis, and Bad Bunny, who is headlining. In June, Carrión will perform at Governors Ball in New York City. He will also kick off his Sauce USA Tour in May.
