Amanda Miguel made Belinda emotional last night. On July 10, the Argentinean singer surprised the Spanish-Mexican pop star at a Los Angeles, CA, screening of Mentiras, La Serie with a special streaming recognition and some heartfelt words from one icon to another.
Mentiras, La Serie has gone viral since its release on June 13, thanks to its catchy mashups and classic covers of ‘80s classic songs. Part of the series’ now-viral repertoire includes Amanda Miguel’s “Él Me Mintió” and “Castillos.” In a recent red carpet interview, Belinda said: “[Amanda] is a great songwriter and singer. I admire her so much. Everything that I did was with a lot of respect and love to make a different version of the song.”
Last night, Amanda Miguel returned the praise during a screening of the comical musical in L.A. The pop ballad icon made a surprise appearance to deliver a special streaming recognition to the cast of the show: the Mentiras, La Serie soundtrack surpassed 100 million streams. “You sing beautifully, you did very well and I think you are just starting to show what you can really do,” Amanda Miguel told Beli after sharing the news. “You have a very beautiful voice, what happens is that you have to believe it. Yes, you have to believe it, mi amor, because you sing beautifully.”
After hugging the “Así No Te Amará Jamás” singer, Belinda responded, “Thank you very much. I’m a bit sensitive,” as she wiped tears from her eyes. Later, after singing an impromptu bit of “Él Me Mintió,” Amanda Miguel told Beli that she didn’t come to sing but to meet her. Belinda responded, “I admire you so much, and thank you for your words.” The following day (July 11), Belinda posted a spontaneous moment of Amanda playing the piano as Beli sang a snippet of “Él Me Mintió.”
