On Jan. 5, Kali Uchis released a new live performance version of “Melting” from her debut EP Por Vida. The TBT moment came with the announcement that she will be releasing two albums in 2023 – one in English and one in Spanish.
“Melting LIVE for the kuchis showing love to Por Vida… on my YouTube now,” the Colombian artist wrote on her Instagram. On an Instagram story, she reposted the video with the words: “Thank u for waiting on KU3..”
The enthralling, minimalistic video features Kali dressed in a long, all-black woven dress with heels and a long scarf. She paired the fit with hoops and her signature lip gloss and lip liner combo. Sonically, the revision includes added croons from the singer-songwriter, compared to the version released in 2015.
For those waiting on new music, it appears it’s coming sooner than later. With the video release, she wrote, “dropping both 2023 🌸🌸,” on a quoted tweet she posted back on Apr. 2022. The original tweet reads: “My third album & the next are both finished, one is an English album one is a Spanish album ¿what my kuchis want first ?”
Fans are excited about the throwback moment. A YouTube user, ruddyquezada5339, wrote: “this song never gets old, thank you Kali for appreciate it as much as we do…” Another YouTube user, luar.9145, echoed the same sentiment: “it’s so nice to follow a real artist, no matter how much time passes her songs will always be timeless ❤️.”
This new version comes after her latest track “NO HAY LEY,” released last Sept. Moreover, Kali often posts unreleased song snippets such as “Moonlight,” “I Wish You Roses,” and “Hasta Cuando” on TikTok. That’s not all she stays busy with, though. Besides music, she also runs her clothing line Bodied By Uchis.
