Two of the biggest reggaeton artists in the LGBTQ+ community have joined forces. Last night (Oct. 24), La Cruz released the sexy music video for “Privado” featuring Villano Antillano. The collaboration is a part of the rising Venezuelan star’s new EP, El Nene, Vol. 1, out now.

La Cruz rose to prominence during LGBTQ+ Pride Month last year with his breakthrough hit “Quítate La Ropa.” He has also blazed a trail for gay men in reggaeton with songs like “Te Conocí Bailando” and “Easy Boy.” After starting as an indie artist, La Cruz signed with Warner Music Latina in July. El Nene, Vol. 1 marks his first major release with the label. His only collaboration on the EP is “Privado” with Puerto Rican star Villano Antillano, who has become an empowering trans voice in el movimiento.

“It was a very beautiful studio session where we got to know each other and work together at the same time,” La Cruz tells Remezcla. “I felt very honored to work with Villana. She’s an artist I’ve greatly admired since the beginning of her career. When the vibes don’t lie, palos come out of the studio.”

“Privado” is an alluring reggaeton romp that blends in elements of electronica. La Cruz sings about feeling like a “bad b**ch” with a guy who can’t get enough of him. Villana turns the heat up with her hard-hitting bars about being the main character in her sexcapades. La Cruz and Antillano take over a warehouse in the “Privado” music video. They also have hunky and shirtless men dancing around them.

“We’re sending a message of visibility and inclusion,” La Cruz says. “We’re paving the way for all those people who want to make their dreams come true but maybe feel scared for many different reasons. I believe this collaboration is a step forward.”

El Nene, Vol. 1 also includes La Cruz’s previous singles “Sahara” and “Fancy.” Following his collaboration “Rough” with Luísa Sonza, he continues to explore Brazilian funk in the song “Frio.” La Cruz revealed that he is finalizing tour dates for next year that he will announce very soon.
