La Cruz is turning up the heat just in time for summer. Today (July 18), the rising Venezuelan star released the sexy music video for his new single “Sahara.”

Since breaking out last year with his single “Quítate La Ropa,” La Cruz has become a leading gay voice in reggaeton. The music video featured shirtless men perreando to his song that went viral on TikTok. A few months before that, La Cruz independently released his debut album Hawaira, which included the hits “Te Conocí Bailando” and “Boulevard.” Earlier this month, he expanded his team by signing with Rosalía’s former manager Rebeca León, Saint Edd, and Warner Music Latina.

“Sahara” marks La Cruz’s first new song of the year, as well as his debut release with Warner. He comes through with the perfect summer perreito. Just like the heat of the Sahara desert, La Cruz sings about getting hot and heavy with a guy that he’s crushing on. The music video features male dancers perreando to the freaky reggaeton romp. La Cruz even gets in on the choreography and busts a few slick moves with the dancers.

“I want people to feel identified with the song, with the emotions it conveys, because it was made with a lot of love, and I want to transmit that energy!” La Cruz shared in a statement.

As La Cruz told Remezcla last year, one of his supporters is Colombian superstar Karol G. After messaging each other on Instagram, he finally met La Bichota at her concert in Caracas, Venezuela, in March. Later that month, Venezuelan reggaetonero Danny Ocean, known for his hit “Me Rehúso,” featured La Cruz in his music video for “Cero Condiciones.” La Cruz broke the LGBTQ+ Latine Internet a few days ago when he revealed he was in the recording studio with Villano Antillano.
