Maluma is embracing salsa music with one of the genre’s icons, Marc Anthony. The Colombian superstar teamed up with Marc in the music video for “La Fórmula,” released last night (Feb. 1).
Maluma collaborated with Marc in 2017. The Nuyorican icon appeared on a salsa remix of Maluma’s global hit “Felices Los 4.” Now they’re coming back together for a brand new song. “La Fórmula” is another taste of Maluma’s upcoming album Don Juan. The title of the LP is a reference to Maluma’s real name, Juan Luis Londoño Arias.

Maluma wrote “La Fórmula” with Marc, Édgar Barrera, Justin Quiles, and Sergio George, who was behind the landmark Salsa Giants album. Backed by brassy production and tropical beats, Maluma and Marc trade verses about longing for an ex-lover who lingers on their mind. Maluma is stepping back into the salsa groove with the genre’s key players. He also finds a moment in the emotional salsa banger to let his signature flirty flow loose. Maluma’s collaboration with Marc is the perfect formula for a captivating duet.
The music video for “La Fórmula” captures both singers recording the song at The Hit Factory in Miami. We see them having a blast together as they bring their collaboration to life. The video was produced by Maluma’s Royalty Films.
Last week, Maluma attended Marc’s wedding to Nadia Ferreira. Other high-profile guests spotted at the wedding included Romeo Santos, Marco Antonio Solis, David and Victoria Beckham, Salma Hayek, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Luis Fonsi. Marc’s brother Bigram Zayas was also there to witness the event.
Maluma is nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards, which is happening this Sunday. His The Love & Sex Tape EP is nominated for Best Música Urbana Album. In the category, he faces competition from Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Rauw Alejandro, and Farruko.
