Myke Towers is the latest artist getting into the corridos tumbados game. The Puerto Rican superstar teamed up with Fuerza Regida for the band’s new music video, “Pariente,” released last night (May 4).

As corridos tumbados are going global, so is the genre’s pioneering group Fuerza Regida. Alongside acts like Natanael Cano, Adriel Favela, and Junior H, the Mexican-American group helped usher in the genre in 2019. Fuerza Regida is among the most successful regional Mexican music acts in the movement, with three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their current hits include “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera and “Igualito A Mi Apá” featuring Peso Pluma.

The originators of corridos tumbados are now pushing the genre forward in “Pariente.” Fuerza Regida’s song marks Myke Towers’ first foray into the Mexican genre. Towers has experienced success in Latine trap and reggaeton, so his versatile flow fits well in this trap corrido banger. Fuerza Regida’s lead singer Jesús Ortiz Paz trades verses with Towers about proudly representing their barrios wherever they go.

Fuerza Regida brings the explosive sound of “Pariente” to life in the music video. The band is shown taking over the streets with Myke Towers in their sports cars. There’s also footage of Fuerza Regida recording the song with Towers in the studio.

Fuerza Regida’s fans love the band’s song with Myke Towers. On Twitter, one person wrote, “Fuerza regida and Myke towers ?? My life is complete.” The collaboration is being celebrated alongside Peso Pluma and Eladio Carrión’s song “77” as wins for corridos. “Fuerza regida and myke towers today and Peso pluma and Eladio Carrión. Love to see it,” another person wrote with emojis of Mexico and Puerto Rico’s flags.

In July, Fuerza Regida will kick off the Otra Peda Tour. One of the tour’s stops includes a concert at the BMO Stadium in L.A on July 15.
