Two of Mexico’s pop superstars have joined forces. Sofía Reyes teamed up with Danna Paola for her new single “TQUM.” They catch the flight from hell in the music video released last night (May 25).

“TQUM” stands for “Te Quiero Un Montón.” Reyes co-wrote the song with Danna, Karen Sotomayor, and Thom Bridges. For the first time, she dabbles in the hyperpop genre. In the frenetic love song, Reyes and Danna trade verses reminiscing about exes who are still on their minds. They commiserate about their heartbreak while supporting each other in this Mexican girl power banger.

“When we’re on a plane or we spend too much time by ourselves, remember people, and land our thoughts,” Reyes said in a statement. “Sharing this song with Danna Paola is very powerful, obviously because we’re both Mexicans and friends, but also because the song is very much a pop song, and it’s important for both of us to make music that celebrates this kind of music.”

The music video for “TQUM” was directed by Mamo Vernet. The video stays true to Sofía Reyes’ analogy about airplanes. Reyes and Danna Paola encounter all the horrors of taking flights in a single trip. There’s a crying baby, a child kicking the back of the seat, a passenger shaving, and another person extending out their barefoot. The two singers escape the chaos in the restroom, where the plane transforms into a club. They live larger than first class in those fleeting moments.

“TQUM” will be included in Reyes’ upcoming third studio album, due out later this year. The LP will also include her previous single “Luna.” Last month, Danna Paola released her latest single, “1Trago.” In the fall, she will embark on her XT4S1S Tour U.S.A.
