Will Smith made a very unexpected appearance at Coachella last night (April 14). Colombian superstar J Balvin brought the multi-hyphenated actor as a special guest during his spacey performance.

J Balvin was one of the top-billed Latine acts on Coachella’s line-up this year. That marked his return to the festival’s mainstage after first performing there in 2019. This time around, J Balvin embraced an outer space theme for his return to the desert. He performed all of his biggest hits like “Mi Gente,” “Ginza,” “La Canción” (sans Bad Bunny), and “Dientes,” which sampled Usher’s 2004 classic “Yeah!”

J Balvin’s sci-fi theme made more sense once Smith stepped out in his famous suit from the Men in Black movies. Smith dialed it back to 1997 to perform the “Men in Black” main song. During the performance, more dancers dressed as agents came out, as well as green aliens. Before leaving the stage, Smith brought out the neuralyzer from the movies to wipe away everyone’s memories.

But the neuralyzer didn’t work because a lot of people were talking online about Smith’s Coachella cameo afterward. One person wrote on X, “J Balvin bringing Will Smith out to sing Men In Black is so iconic. I honestly regret missing this coachella lol.” Another person added, “J Balvin bringing out Will Smith was not in my 2024 bingo card.”

Another moment that went viral during J Balvin’s performance happened in the crowd. While J Balvin was singing “Triple S” with Jowell y Randy, Hongjoong from the K-pop group ATEEZ — which played on Friday night — was spotted dancing to the reggaeton song. J Balvin loved the moment because he liked multiple posts on X with the Hongjoong video.

On April 26, J Balvin will kick off his European Que Bueno Volver a Verte Tour in Frankfurt, Germany. On social media, he has teased that he is working on the follow-up to his 2021 album Jose
