On Apr. 7, the emerging Regional Mexican trio Yahritza y Su Esencia and the cumbia/norteño group Grupo Frontera teamed up on their newest collaboration, “Frágil.” With the single, the group also released a music video to accompany it.
“Frágil is now available on all platforms with our friends from @grupofrontera !” the Mexican-American band wrote online. “Thank you very much and we hope you like it a lot 🫶🏼❤️.”
The music video starts by showing Yahritza in dark sunglasses, setting the mood with her deep heartfelt vocals. We see the sibling trio in the back of an orange pickup truck. The next frame shows Grupo Frontera alongside Yahritza, complementing her croons with their signature cumbia rhythms. We see the two bands jamming, singing about heartbreak in what appears to be an isolated plain area. Later, another video frame shows their posse enjoying a carne asada and drinking beer. The track wraps up with an acoustic guitar solo from the trio’s Armando, aka “Mando.”
Last Sun. (Apr. 2), Grupo Frontera performed at Tecate Pal’ Norte in Monterrey, Mexico, where they gave the audience a glimpse of the long-awaited joint track. In front of 100,000 fans, Grupo Frontera invited Yahritza y Su Esencia as one of their special guests and they played the track together live for the first time.
Since Feb., the family trio has been teasing this highly-anticipated collaboration. During Premio Lo Nuestro 2023’s red carpet, the vocalist revealed, “So you can anticipate it, a collaboration with Grupo Frontera and Yahritza y Su Esencia.” “A collab you have been waiting for,” Jairo Martinez added.
