Yahritza y Su Esencia is back with new music. On Oct. 24, the Mexican-American sibling trio released a cover of “Y Qué Tal Si Te Escapas Del Cielo,” a heartfelt tribute to their late cousin.
The emotional rendition pulls on heartstrings with lyrics like, “Y qué tal si te escapas del cielo pa darme un abrazo / El abrazo que no pude darte para despedirme [And what if you escape from heaven to give me a hug / The hug I couldn’t give you to say goodbye].” This specific verse is special to the trio’s vocalist, Yahritza. “This verse touches my soul. Many of us have experienced the loss of someone special, and sometimes we just want one more moment, one last hug that tells us everything will be alright,” she said in a press statement. “Life is short and sometimes tough, so let’s make the most of every moment with our loved ones and focus on giving love and peace always.”
The new music video, directed by SICCMADE, features the group in all-white attire singing their version of Miguel Soto’s track. The visuals follow Yahritza as she passionately sings about wishing she could say goodbye to someone who’s no longer alive. Other shots show her singing with a blurred background, giving the music video a creative touch. At the end of the video, they pay tribute by adding a special dedication to their cousin, Yahir Martinez, who passed away in 2022.
Fans are relating to the song’s message. A YouTube user, @karene.sanchezdiaz7467, wrote: “I have been crying remembering my husband who is already in heaven and the song describes how I feel.” Another YouTube user, @sandraarreola4103, echoed the same sentiment: “You never disappoint number 1 fan of your music and definitely this hits hard for all the loved ones we have lost and wish we could just have one more last moment with them.”
