Boricua Rapper Audri Nix Showcases Her Dark R&B Roots in Our New Exclusivo Playlist

Rapper Audri Nix is ready to blossom in 2016. As the latest Boricua to enter the rap world, she made a grand opening statement in 2015 after releasing her first song ever, followed by a remix and two more singles. She’s brilliant, flaunting a quick flow intertwined with sultry cooing over hypnotic beats. “Veneno” – a cut from her forthcoming El Nuevo Orden Vol. 1 EP – was especially impressive, thanks to her unapologetic delivery, clever rhymes, and tenacious attitude.

The songs she shared with us as part of our Exclusivo playlist series exemplifies Nix’s sound – it’s a collection of expertly produced R&B, rap, and trap. Fittingly, the playlist meanders from tropical chill on Tyler the Creator and Frank Ocean’s “She” into the experimental beats of M.I.A and FKA Twigs, to classic 90s hip-hop like Biggie’s “Ready to Die” and “Warning.” Her taste for booming synths emerges with tracks by Odd Future and Young Thug, and she pays respect to lyrical geniuses through her inclusion of fellow rappers Azealia Banks and La Mala Rodriguez. There’s more to come for Nix soon, with her debut EP El Nuevo Orden Vol. 1 anticipated to drop early this year.
