Almost a year ago we highlighted Janaki‘s latest EP, Melodías Humanas, as a great three-track collection of songs to dance to with our eyes closed, with strong roots in house and techno. Now, the Chilean producer, born Juan Eyzaguirre, has just released a remixes collection of one of the EP’s songs, “Amazonas.”
Amazonas Remixes features reworks from Fantasna and Janaki himself, and it opens with a sick remix by José Cerda, a.k.a. El Sueño de la Casa Propia. Cerda managed to retain some of the original house vibes, but also infused them with hip-hop elements, bringing everything to a whole new level. He introduced enough variation and chaos to the track to make it feel like it’s in his territory, pitching down the vocal samples, bringing the bass line to the front, and distorting it, while adding some broken machine-like synths, just to make things more interesting.
