Even when she seemingly takes a well-deserved holiday break like the rest of us, it seems others are busy getting Karol Conka’s name out there.
It was only mid-December when the Brazilian MC dropped her latest tune, the sinister-but-exuberant “Tombei,” to reemphasize her status as one of Latin America’s most dynamic dancefloor-focused rappers. Barely has the bunting come down and she’s back, this time thanks to Rio electro-samba crew Sambasupercollider’s sizzling remix of the club smash that was “Gandaia,” one of the highlights of Karol’s debut album Batuk Freak.
The Sambasupercollider collective is fronted by producer Daniel Ruiz and includes a stellar cast of musicians from the city’s samba and club scenes, two throbbing genres that when merged together sound…well, a little something like this.
