Buenos Aires-born, Barcelona-based producer Nehuen has flirted with dubstep, UK funky, rave, house, techno, and hip-hop throughout his career, but his new Italo disco track caught us a little off guard. The Red Bull Music Academy alum recently released his new EP Space Journey through DJ Raff’s Piroctecnia label. The co-founder of the Classicworks label just uploaded another track on his SoundCloud page, which follows pretty much the same vibe.
“Please Wait” is a great – and free! – way to listen to Nehuen’s newfound love for Italo disco. Its melodic lines feel vintage and nostalgic, but it’s still fun and upbeat, and it features plenty of techno and electro references. He manages to introduce more contemporary elements that keep it current and relevant, proving it’s not just another throwback track for nostalgia’s sake.
