Press Pause on ‘Views’ Because Phynx’s Perreo Remix of “Controlla” Is Here

Press pause on Views, because Guadalajara beatmaker Phynx saw fit to uncurl one of his sexy perreo remixes around Drake’s new dancehall love song “Controlla” and premiere it in partnership with NWLA here on Remezcla.

Some backstory: a version of the original Drake track featuring Popcaan leaked in March, but Drizzy swerved before the release of his album and swapped out the Jamaican dancehall artist’s lyrics in favor of verses from Beenie Man’s 1995 “Tear Off Mi Garment.” Here, Phynx restores Popcaan’s original flow, which has us wondering how Drake could ever say no to lines like “your body like an action movie.”

But leave it to Phynx to bring the most sensual self out of a hit. After all, his CV includes romantic reworks of J. Balvin’s “Ginza,” plus Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” and Plan B’s “Fanática Sensual.”

Phynx’s music is like having every conversation with bae — even the tough ones — kicked back in the pink light of the “Work” video with an eternal supply of gallos. You know, that sweet-sexy vibe. The 20-year-old rolls with Mexican collectives Ssensorial Crew and Gold Frame Records, solid backing for a producer with his talents for feels and the occasional bout of Aztec goddess-inspired mysticism.
