Cali MC Speak! Is a Rap Game Brujo in the Spooky Video for “Místico”

What better way to celebrate moving to Mexico City than to release a new banger? Cali-bred MC Speak! has dropped his first new sounds and visuals following last year’s Dre Rodner-produced Fall Time Radness EP. The stark, black-and-white clip for “Místico” comes courtesy of your fam here at Remezcla. It’s also the MC’s second video shot in his ancestral home (following another Remezcla-produced clip for “Free Wind” released back in February), and the first since he packed up and headed south last winter.

Directed by Young Ultra, the clip was shot outside the Claustro de Sor Juana in CDMX, the home of a 16th century cloister complex. Mixing the backdrop of the cloister with imagery of black magic (i.e. a female dancer in a devil mask, mysterious smoky potions), the video’s guerilla-style vibe perfectly matches the lo-fi production of “Místico.”

On the track, Speak! employs his signature witty delivery to tackle everything from his California fashion choices (“My khakis still Dickies/I wear them shits with a crease”) to finding his ideal match (“My style místico, like No Limit Mystikal, and she gotta be a Mia X if she wanna kick it, though”). No word yet on which project, if any, this joint will be included on, but in the meantime we’ll savor these brujería sounds and keep our eyes open for Speak!’s next D.F.-inspired releases.
