Canelo Álvarez and Connor McGregor recently went viral for a spat on social media. And it would be kind of absurd if it weren’t so funny.

The argument, which basically boils down to the two men arguing over who did better against Floyd Mayweather – despite the fact that they both lost, somehow devolved to the point McGregor called Álvarez “uncooked chicken.”

It all started when McGregor, for some reason, decided to take a shot at Canelo with a post that praised Mayweather’s victory against Ávarez in 2013 (in what was Álvarez’s first loss as a pro), saying it was “one of the greatest performances in professional boxing” and that “he’d landed more shots on Floyd.” He finished with, “I’d love another go.”

Álvarez, of course, responded to that with “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches.” And the conversation only went downhill from there.

McGregor then went and threw the “uncooked chicken” insult at Álvarez.

He must have thought it was too much afterwards, because he went on to delete the post, which read, “Saul, you uncooked chicken. I’ll stomp the ligaments out of your knee joint. I don’t even need hands to end you. I’ll kick you raw pink, leave you looking like you were left out in the sun too long haha freckle arse. I will see you and we will see. Canelo is a cornflake, no sugar.”

For now, Álvarez had the last word – or post, which read “You act like a little kid. you have a big mouth and you know how to talk shit well, but when the fight come you always quit ”

Fans online were taking it in stride, posting that, “All of boxing twitter setting aside their differences with Canelo watching him shit on McGregor.”

While others were noting that it was truly one of the most random interactions.

This time last year Canelo Álvarez got into some major online beef was with Lionel Messi after Mexico lost to Argentina in a game at the 2022 World Cup. At that time, he got upset because he thought that Messi was disrespecting the Mexican jersey during a celebration and said, “Que le pida a Dios que no me lo encuentre!!”

Messi responded that it was a misunderstanding and that he meant no disrespect. And the beef was quickly squashed as Álvarez apologized.
