Seattle Seahawks Win Second-Ever Super Bowl in Team’s History

The Seattle Seahawks have won Super Bowl LX. They beat the New England Patriots 29-13 for their second Super Bowl in franchise history, the first coming in 2014. And two players of our communities were active for the team as they did it: Tight End Elijah Arroyo and Safety Julian Love. The Seahawks have another player from our communities, Federico Maranges, on the practice squad, though he was not active for the game and did not suit up.

It was not New England’s night. The Patriots’ defense was steady, especially at the beginning. They forced Seahawks QB Sam Darnold out of the pocket and limited their offense to field goals again and again, outside of one touchdown. But the Seahawks’ defense was too good, not just at stopping New England, but at forcing turnovers and converting them into points. That meant that even with a late touchdown, New England was just never close.

Hard to win games when you’re getting outmatched defensively and when you continue to give the other team chances to beat you.

Super Bowl LX was played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The Latino representation in this Super Bowl was strong, as the New England Patriots also had three Latino players: Kicker Andres Borregales, Cornerback Christian Gonzalez, and Safety Jaylinn Hawkins.

Only Love, Arroyo, and Maranges will be celebrating this time, though.

Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny headlined a Halftime show that paid tribute to Latinidad and featured most of the Puerto Rican artist’s biggest hits as cameos from some big Latine superstars, from Karol G to Pedro Pascal.
