Bad Bunny recently took the mic – but not to perform some of his hit reggaeton tracks. Instead, the “Yonaguni” rapper delivered some basketball commentary during a game between Los Cangrejeros de Santurce and Los Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rico’s National Superior Basketball (BSN) league.
On Monday (May 30), he joined Kefrén Velázquez and Xiomara Ríos to call the game, which ended with Bad Bunny’s team winning 110-104. During the game, he also revealed that his favorite basketball player is late superstar Kobe Bryant, whom he had the chance to meet once at an NBA game.
He also joked that he was not a very good basketball player himself. “That’s why I’m here behind the microphone,” he said.
Bad Bunny fans, who listened to the game live, were impressed by his broadcasting skills. “Bad Bunny does everything, he’s literally commentating a Puerto Rican basketball game right now, and he’s good at it too,” one Twitter user wrote.
Last year, Bad Bunny was named the co-owner of Los Cangrejeros de Santurce. Bad Bunny’s manager Noah Assad, and Jonathan Miranda, vice president of Rimas Music Entertainment, joined as partners.
At the time, the team said their “main purpose and commitment of this initiative is to help foster positive change on the island.” They added that their “goal is to promote a better future through sports, music and the arts” and that their “main objective is to encourage ideas and dreams in the Puerto Rican youth, which provoke an authentic and real social transformation.”
