The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to begin at the end of the month and the program is set to feature 329 events across 32 sports. That’s a lot to keep track of, particularly considering events are happening at the same time. The 28 “core” Olympic sports are joined in Paris 2024 by 4 new sports, three of which had already made their debut in Tokyo 2020: skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing, with breaking being the fourth one and the only one making its Olympic debut in Paris 2024.
Of the 32, there are undoubtedly some sports that are more popular than others and feature bigger stars. All eyes will be once again on artistic gymnastics as Simone Biles battles Rebecca Andrade for a shot at Olympic glory. The possibility of seeing some NBA and WNBA stars always makes basketball interesting. The same goes with football and some recognizable fútbol stars, both on the men’s side and on the women’s side once the final rosters are in.
Tennis will also be present at the Olympics, with some big tennis stars like Leylah Fernandez competing for a medal. And there is always a special interest in track and field events and swimming.
