Graphic Couture, Hecho en Mexico: Meet Streetwear Brand Tony Delfino

Cultura Dura is a Remezcla and Mike’s HARDER content and event series highlighting emerging Latin urban culture. We’ll be exploring scenes that haven’t really gotten any coverage anywhere else – from block parties and street art to underground sports and raw, young artists making movements pa’ la calle.

Streetwear culture in Mexico City is relatively new – and for a long time, people who wanted to wear the clothes had no option but to wait months (or even a year) for brands from the U.S., Japan or Europe to arrive.

Then, in 2008, Tony Delfino arrived to give the hypebeasts a homegrown brand they could rep with pride. A collective of D.F.-based graphic designers, visual artists, and graffiteros, Tony Delfino makes high quality, detailed, limited edition pieces that includes t-shirts, button downs, hoodies, leather jackets, and sneakers. The entire line is deeply inspired by the culture of Mexico’s capital, and is made with all-Mexican materials. For several years now its been the brand of choice for the D.F. fresh to death set.

We sat down with the collective to learn more about their origins, and their unique “graphic couture” approach.
