Today, tragedy struck as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis opened fire at Santa Fe High School in Texas. At least 10 are dead and many more are injured, according to The New York Times. As we learn more news and people send their condolences, Ted Cruz – like clockwork – sent his “thoughts and prayers” – a phrase that many believe is hollow because of politicians’ ties to gun groups. “Heidi and I are keeping all the students and faculty at Santa Fe High School in our prayers this morning, along with all first responders on the scene,” the tweet from the Senator Ted Cruz account reads. “Please be safe and heed warning from local officials.”

But much like National Rifle Association (NRA) darling Sen. Marco Rubio was lambasted after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Cruz will probably face the same ire. It’s already started online. Cruz has an A+ rating from the NRA and has received $77,450 in contributions from the group, meaning that Cruz, who is up for re-election this year and has previously used a machine gun to fry bacon, is not likely to stand up for gun reform. Check out a few reactions to his message below.
