Los Walters Keep It Caribbean With “Porsche” Video

Puerto Rico’s Los Wálters have made their name on pleasant party starters, pop songs that sound all warm and friendly on the inside. This was true during their debut #ponteelcasco and its follow up, Verano Panorámico, which came out almost a year ago. “Porsche,” the sophomore album’s opener, gets the video go-around this time, furthering the duo’s commitment to claiming a sense of Caribbean aesthetic.

Filmed in Barranquitas, Piñones, Cheo’s, and Ruben’s, the video follows its hero for a whole day, offering slightly blurry frames of the island’s rural and cityscapes. Color is essential to “Porsche,” as the video’s director – Wálters member Luis López Varona – finds ways to match the ruby red of the car to clothing, graffiti, and a heavily red-filtered strip tease. We also get constant color contrast with shots of white hands and legs over black ones, bookending the clip.

If you happen to be in New York this week, make sure to check out Los Wálters at Solo Dame Indie Pop!‘s final night of shows, alongside Empress Of, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, and fellow Ricans Buscabulla and DJ Payola.
